Why do the MPs and the Govt fear Anna?

Anna Hazare: Shouldn't have gone to court, will fast at MMRDA Ground.

Why do the MPs and the Govt fear Anna? Anna is talking for the people. He only asks to modify Lokpal bill so that corruption can be minimised. So it is clear that people who fear Anna are corrupt. The corrupt politicians and officials are the curse of modern India.

Look at the matter in this way: even if it is democracy people have no control over the MPs, MLAs etc whom they elect and later become ministers and hold other posts to rule the people.  We have seen a couple of days back that MPs in the parliament were airing their anger towards Anna, saying they are elected by the people and so they will decide what points are to be made in the Lokpal bill. Respected MPs, Anna and his followers are also Indian citizens who elected you and you'll have to listen to them, at least not mock them. Can you say that you politicians are not corrupt? Then where from you got those thousands of crores of rupees that you deposited in Swiss bank and other foreign banking institutions? You stole that money from the poor Indians and you say we have elected you!

Please don't forget that the concept of democracy is to bestow the ultimate power on common people like Anna Hazare...

Now, coming back to Anna, team Anna was originally told it would have to pay close to 18 lakh rupees for MMRDA Ground in Mumbai - commercial rates applied because their application was made through an NGO that was not officially registered as a trust. They've now fixed that, and their revised application has been accepted. "MMRDA Ground officials originally said the venue would cost us 18 lakhs...I said we can't spend that much money. Now I am told it will be seven lakhs and people say they will donate. We will not accept cash. A cheque or draft is fine," said Anna.

Anna's protest camp will be headlined by his hunger strike which starts on December 27, as Parliament debates the new anti-corruption Lokpal Bill which he has diagnosed as toothless and "a betrayal of the people." His aides said his camp would be devoted to championing a public cause.

Kerala filed emergency plea on supreme court on Mullaperiyar issue

Amid rising political tensions among the neighboring states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the supreme court will consider today an urgent petition filed by Kerala govt

Citing imminent danger to around 13 lakhs people, Kerala demands the water level to be reduced to 120 feet with immediate effect and also seeks the court's approval for the construction of a new dam in place of the more than 100 years old existing dam.

Earlier on Dec 1, The Tamil Nadu govt moved the apex court alleging that Kerala, despite a status quo order by the supreme court, was making public statements and whipping up fear psychosis among Keralites about the safety of the dam.

The safety of the century-old dam is a great concern for the people living close to the dam site. If the dam collapses, who will be answerable for the thousands of lives that might be lost?
