A fire broke out at the cargo terminal of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi, in the early hours of Thursday, Jan 5. No casualties reported. The blaze was brought under control after over five hours.

Air and road traffic was disrupted in New Delhi today morning due to severe fog conditions affecting visibility to near zero. The dense fog had some effect on the operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport where around 15 flights were delayed. The fog and visibility factor also affected rail traffic delaying several trains in the capital.

Pension plans for Indians working in Gulf countries: The India govt on Jan4 cleared a proposal for setting up of a Pension and Life Insurance Fund (PLIF) for its citizens working abroad, especially in the gulf countries. Women to get advantage as about 20% of overseas Indian workers in ECR countries are women.
