Anna Hazare ends his fast at Mumbai stadium citing ill health. This time the strike against a weak Lokpal Bill was attended by less number of followers than expected - a maximum of ten thousand people attended the fasting protest where as team Anna was expecting around a hundred thousand supporters. Anna Hazare has however declared that he will show his strong support base through anti-govt demonstrations during the assembly elections to be held in four states.
Lok Sabha (the lower house of Parliament) has passed the Lokpal bill through voice vote. But the bill to give the Lokpal constitutional status failed to get the required support of 273 votes. Rajya Sabha will consider the Lokpal today.
